Canceled - as a verb
To cross out something with lines etc.
To invalidate or annul something.
Example: "He cancelled his order on their website."
To mark something (such as a used postage stamp) so that it can't be reused.
Example: "This machine cancels the letters that have a valid zip code."
To offset or equalize something.
Example: "The corrective feedback mechanism cancels out the noise."
To remove a common factor from both the numerator and denominator of a fraction, or from both sides of an equation.
To stop production of a programme.
To suppress or omit; to strike out, as matter in type.
To shut out, as with a railing or with latticework; to exclude.
To kill.
To cease to provide financial or moral support to (someone deemed unacceptable). compare cancel culture.
Canceled - as an adjective
No longer planned or scheduled.
Example: "The cancelled show would have drawn 5,000 fans."
(of a mail item) marked over the stamp, to show that the stamp has been used.
